The severe flooding caused by Hurricane Mitch destroyed 550 houses and affected 10,000 people in the poor rural town of Condega, Nicaragua. We are a small, New York-based, grass-roots organization of women who have been helping Nicaraguan women, many of them single mothers, rebuild their homes since the hurricane. We continue to organize brigades of women to travel to Condega for six- to eight-week periods. In addition to women builders, we also need volunteers to help us raise funds for building materials and travel expenses.
